Anna Strobl
St. Francis Xavier Parish, Mill Bay

Anna Strobl was born in Italy during the war, immigrated to Canada at age 21, and settled in Cobble Hill. She joined St. Francis Xavier parish in 1957 where she met her husband, Bill.

Actively involved with the parish for 60 years, Anna was Sacristan, laundered and ironed the church linens, provided flowers for the altar from her own flower garden, cleaned the church, assisted the Knights of Columbus with their activities, supported the annual Parish Garage Sale and Council suppers, was an active member of the CWL, assisted in parish social activities, funeral teas and parish suppers.

Anna is an Award Winning Red Cross Blood Donor, donating blood faithfully for more than 50 years. As Anna has a rare blood type, many have benefitted from this unselfish act alone. She is also a member of the Cowichan Valley Italian Cultural Society, always ready to lend a hand with her infectious smile and a sense of humour. “You feel better just being around her,” has been the response when parishioners were asked about Anna.
