Let us love, not with words, but with deeds
Pope Francis has declared November 19, 2017, as World Day of the Poor with the theme: Love not in word but in deed. In Tahsis, parishioners have taken this to heart and to where it has the most impact. Carl, Colleen and Catherine are the ‘Tahsis Connection’ who organized a ‘tailgate party’. The St. Vincent de Paul in Port Alberni were also caught on camera doing their part, loading the Bishop’s truck with hampers for those in need.

World Day of the Poor
At the end of the Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis urged the entire Christian community to reach out to the poor, the weak, and to all whose dignity is trampled. The motto for the World Day of the Poor on Sunday November 19, 2017 centers around the concrete call to action: “Love not in word but in deed” taken from the First Letter of Saint John, revealing the nature of God as being Love in action, exemplified and expressed in God sacrificing His Son for humanity (John 3:16).

All Souls' Day
A Funeral Mass is the greatest act and offering that we can do for the deceased. It is a great act of love and prayer. The life of a deceased person does not end in this world; the soul of who they are lives on. After parting from the body, the soul continues on a journey.

A holy Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Day is a familiar holiday in Canada, and provides a beautiful opportunity in October to reflect on the gifts and blessings we have received.
A reflection on Thanksgiving for us Christians automatically turns our thoughts to God, and all that God has so graciously bestowed upon us and our families. And what is so beautiful about this secular holiday is that in many ways it draws people of little or no faith to consider where all we have come from.
