Affirming gifts in the service of Mercy

On Thursday, October 20, 2016, Pastoral Centre staff gathered at St. Rose of Lima parish in Sooke to spend time on retreat, away from busy-ness of everyday life. As this Jubilee Year of Mercy winds down, we were blessed to have Barbara Dowding, Vice Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Vancouver, present to facilitate our day for us. Barbara focused on affirming the gifts and charisms we use in service of Mercy, inviting us to reflect about how we can apply those blessings in service to others.

Our session included a lovely walk along scenic Whiffin Spit (which Merlin particularly enjoyed), where we searched out heart-shaped items of nature, like rocks, leaves, twigs, and even kelp!

We left the day feeling renewed, glad for a chance to connect with each other outside the office, and for the opportunity to reaffirm, for ourselves and for each other, our gifts in the service of Mercy.
