Association of Catholic Leaders Breakfast

Keynote Speaker — Bishop Gary Gordon

Bishop Gary Gordon will be the keynote speaker at the Association of Catholic Leaders Breakfast on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the Union Club in Victoria (805 Gordon Strreet). Bishop Gary will be speaking on the topic Lay Leadership in the Mission of the Church.

On June 14, 2014, Bishop Gary Gordon was appointed as the 17th Bishop of the Diocese of Victoria after serving as the Bishop of the Diocese of Whitehorse for the previous 8 years. Bishop Gordon was born in Vancouver in 1957 and ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Vancouver in 1982. While serving as pastor of St. Mary’s Parish in Chilliwack for 24 years, Bishop Gordon was very involved working with the First Nations Peoples, an involvement he continued in the Yukon and will certainly continue on Vancouver Island. He was given the name, Xyolhmetoxw by the Stó:lō Nation, a name which means, “Taking Care of the People.”
