Celebrating Our Lady of Guadalupe
The twelfth day of December is the memorial of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patron of the Americas. At Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, we celebrated Mass, at which one of parishioners reenacted the story of Mary’s appearance in Mexico to St. Juan Diego in 1531. Afterwards, we enjoyed a meal together in the parish hall.
At St. Joseph’s Parish in Chemainus, parishioners also gathered to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe (see photo below) at a Mass celebrated by Fr. Mel Bayron.
This Feast of Mary is one of the great signs of hope for Indigenous people of the Americas.
