On Saturday, July 1, 2017, at the 5pm Mass at Holy Family/Notre Dame Parish in Port Alberni, Bishop Gary Gordon consecrated the Diocese of Victoria to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The Bishops of Canada were invited by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) to consecrate the country to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary as part of the celebrations marking the 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Each bishop was invited to consecrate his individual diocese or eparchy on
July 1, 2017.
In the teachings of the Second Vatican Council, the Blessed Mother shines forth as “the perfect example, icon, and model of what it means to live by faith,” and by imploring Our Lady’s help, “we welcome with joy and enthusiasm the joys of discipleship in the work of the New Evangelization.”
The Bishops of Canada will jointly consecrate the country to the Blessed Virgin Mary during the CCCB Plenary Assembly in September, 2017.
Let us, in one heart, mind, and spirit, consecrate Canada to our Blessed Mother, who with our Patron, St. Joseph, our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Family, will watch over, guide, bless, and protect our country and its people for millennia to come.
