Dispatches from Rome: Day Four

~ Download this blog

Rome day four: First, we met with Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect, and staff of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life.

The Dicastery was created by Pope Francis on August 15, 2016, taking over the functions and responsibilities of the Pontifical Council for the Laity and the Pontifical Council for the Family. It has responsibility ‘for the promotion of the life and apostolate of the lay faithful, for the pastoral care of the family and its mission according to God’s plan, and for the protection and support of human life’ (National Catholic Reporter, Catholic News Service). Cardinal Farrell is the Dicastery’s first Prefect.

Following this, we met with Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Secretary of Relations with States for the Holy See.

We were also blessed to celebrate Mass of the Ukrainian Rite at the altar of St. Basil, in St. Peter’s.
