Getting Historical at St. Ann's Academy
For the first time in many years, the Canadian Catholic Historical Society had their annual meeting in Victoria, held on June 3, 2013.
About thirty historians from across Canada meet at the University of Victoria for several days of historical presentations and workshops.
I had the privilege of presiding at a special Liturgy in the historic chapel that was once the first Cathedral of the Diocese of Victoria—or the Diocese of Vancouver Island, as it was known at the beginning.
In the early days the church was moved from its first location and resituated in such a way that the well-known Academy could be built around it.
Now officially part of the historical patrimony of the city, it has been restored by the Victoria Capital Commission, to its original beautiful state.
