Let Your Light Shine: CWL Diocesan Convention
Another beautiful Saturday afternoon accompanied me as I drove to Nanaimo to join our Catholic Women's League members at their convention at St. Peter's Parish!
It was a warm two days temperature-wise, and a warm environment community-wise as the ladies came together for a very successful session of talks, business, Liturgy and fun! One hundred and six registered as delegates to the Convention from all over the Diocese—a good number of clergy attended as well.
I spoke to the Convention on the theme Door of Faith ( the document proclaiming the Year of Faith). It was a pleasure to meet with the new Provincial President, Doreen Gowans from Kamloops who attended our Diocesan event.
Congratulations to Kathy Weswick, Provincial President and Lou Johnson, St. Peter’s Council President, and all the organizing committee members for a job well done. Fr. Frank Franz, past Spiritual Advisor, gave the keynote; current Spiritual Advisor, Fr. Mel Byron gave a presentation on Deus Caritas Est during the business sessions.
After a wonderful lunch sponsored by the League, I headed back to Victoria.
