After my travels in Texas, I was off to Edmonton for a great experience among the seminarians at St. Joseph’s Seminary.
I was asked to give a week long retreat to the seminarians prior to the start of Fall classes. This was my second experience of giving retreats at St. Joseph’s Seminary; the previous one was in 2007.
It was a particular joy to give this year’s retreat in the new seminary—a magnificent facility where the ecclesial architecture itself inspires faith! I chose St. Paul’s Second Letter to Timothy as the retreat motif, especially when Paul asks Timothy to rekindle the gift he has received through the laying on of hands.
I was very much inspired by these young men from different dioceses in western Canada. Our own Deacon Harrison Ayre is now completing his final year in the seminary—please pray for him!
