The Feast of St. Francis Xavier
December 3 was the Feast of St. Francis Xavier, so I celebrated Mass in the little church that bears his name in Mill Bay, BC. The church was full to honour the patron Saint of the parish.
St. Francis Xavier was a great missionary; the good folks of St Francis Xavier parish all have big missionary hearts. Some drainage and foundation work on the tiny 125-year-old church building will keep the community warm and housed for a little while, but with the great grace of population growth in Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay and Cobble Hill, plans are developing for a new home for the Catholic population, which is estimated to be well over 2,000 in the area.
This a community of missionary disciples who are keen on the evangelizing trail!
