The vision of mission: accompanying at home, to the peripheries and beyond our borders
On Saturday, April 30, 2016, parishioners and friends of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria gathered at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall in Victoria for the 2016 Bishop’s Gala. It was an evening of fun and fellowship, of rekindling friendships and making new ones. Bidding was fierce for the ‘Fish with the Bish’ two-day fishing trip with Bishop Gary and the ‘Italian Dinner for Eight’ to be cooked by Fr. Alfredo Monacelli. The Silent Auction was buzzing with activity as the dulcet tones of award-winning local musician Maureen Washington serenaded those gathered to celebrate.
On behalf the Bishop, the Gala Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that after expenses, you helped us raise $52,000 to help support West Coast missions. At the invitation of the Ahousaht First Nation, two Religious of the Virgin Mary Sisters will accompany the community on its journey of faith; your contributions have made it possible for us to participate in this important ministry.
Our deep thanks go out to all those who made this evening possible. We are more grateful for your generosity than our hearts can express. Remember to Save the Date (May 6, 2017) for next year’s Gala, and don’t forget to pick up the Summer edition of The Diocesan Messenger, which will have more photos and highlights!
