Gordon & Nancy Stuart
St. Patrick's Parish, Oak Bay

Gordon, a 63-year member of St. Patrick’s Parish, has served on the Pastoral Council, the St. Patrick’s School Council, and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 25 years; once serving as Grand Knight. He is a 15-year volunteer with St. Andrew’s soup kitchen, a volunteer advocate with Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS), a member of the ecumenical advocacy group “Faith In Action” that led to the forming of “Greater Victoria Acting Together” for the Common Good, and a member of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for 10 years; leading to the creation of the Green Circuit program that collects up to 1,200 lbs of fresh produce every week for distribution to the poor at the Social Concern Office Food Bank.

Nancy has been a member of Development and Peace, a member of the Catholi Women's League, Community Life Chair, has participated in the Diocesan Synod, started the Children’s Liturgy in the Parish, was involved with the Moms & Tots group in 1989, is a Lector, served on the People’s Food Commission, organized 10 Days for World Development as part of Kairos, was a member of the Greater Victoria Water Watch Committee (GVWWC), and a member of the Mining Justice Action Committee (MJAC). She also works in the Social Concerns Office.

Together, Gord and Nancy have been described as an example of a Catholic family committed to the social message of the Gospel.
