Joe Mowatt
St. Francis Xavier Parish, Mill Bay

Joe Mowatt has served St. Francis Xavier Parish since his arrival in the early 1990s. Currently a member of the Knights of Columbus, he promotes membership in the Council to other parishioners and proudly wears his Knight’s pin as he serves as Usher or Mass Coordinator.

For many years, Joe served the Parish through maintaining the parish grounds, often on his own, and in all seasons. He was also the Cemetery Director, tirelessly preparing the facilities for burials, and maintaining the parish's cemetery by raking, weeding, and grass cutting.

Other areas of service to the community include as a police officer, a Commissionaire, and as a volunteer for the local Food Bank. Joe has seen action as a veteran of the Korean War. On top of it all, on weekdays Joe regularly assists the elderly by shopping for and with them, and driving them for therapy and on personal errands when they are unable to, living in service for Christ and others.
