Rose Marie Hague
Church of the Ascension Parish, Parksville

Rose Marie retired to Qualicum Beach and Ascension Parish, in 2002. She was an educator at St. Joseph's College, teaching Theological and Psychological studies at the University of Alberta as well. At the parish, Rose Marie served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion; Lector; in the Ministry of the Sick; on the Library Committee; with Social Justice; the Catholic Women's League (CWL); in Adult Education; and on the Pastoral Council.

Rose Marie was instrumental in the formation of the Parish library, and as Adult Education Coordinator, presented Advent and Lenten programs, invited experts on Islam, Judaism, First Nations culture, and on The Human Right to Peace and Catholic Faith-based Advance Care Planning. As Community Life Convener of the CWL, she was involved with issues in Health Care, Palliative Care Beds, the Urgent Care Facility, Affordable Housing, Living Wages, and Mana Ministries to the homeless. She started the loving and warm basket regularly placed in the hall for donations to Mana Ministries. Rose Marie was also a member of Development and Peace, Caritas Canada, KAIROS, supporter of the Qualicum Refugee Sponsorship Group, and was a Board Member of the Catholic Foundation of Vancouver Island.
