We have four items to share with you today:
1) In recognition of the World Day of the Poor on 16 November 2025, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has issued a pastoral letter by the Episcopal Commission for Justice and Peace titled “Our Daily Bread: Food Security and the Call to Solidarity.” Centred on the themes of solidarity, harmony, and harvest, the pastoral letter highlights the current challenges to food security, both globally and in Canada. 2) The Holy See and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) released a joint statement on November 15, 2025, announcing that Pope Leo XIV has gifted 62 Indigenous artifacts to the CCCB. The CCCB will proceed, as soon as possible, to transfer these artifacts to the National Indigenous Organizations (NIOs). The NIOs will then ensure that the artifacts are reunited with their communities of origin. 3) The Serra Club in formation, a Catholic lay organization dedicated to promoting and supporting vocations, meets the last week of every month in different parishes. Their November meeting will be on Wednesday, November 26th, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish (4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria). Mass for vocations will start at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by a talk by Fr. David Hogman about his journey to the priesthood. His mother, Rev. Michelle Hogman, will also be sharing the experience of being the mother of a Catholic priest. After the talk, all are invited to stay for treats and fellowship, a chance to connect, share, and learn more about how you can encourage and support vocations in the Church. 4) All are invited to attend a special celebration in honour of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Bishop Gary Gordon will celebrate Mass alongside Fr. Eduardo de Silva at 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima (4635 Elk Lake Drive, Victoria). Community festivities will follow the Mass.
