News from the Chancery is published each week to share information and upcoming events with the people of the Diocese of Victoria.

We have four items to share with you today:

1) Spots are still available for the 11th Annual Diocesan Family Camp and Conference! Register by August 11th to join families from across the Diocese of Victoria for a joyful weekend of faith, fellowship, and fun on the beautiful West Coast. 2) St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Cathedral is still seeking a dedicated Director of Musical Worship to uphold and enhance its legacy of musical excellence, inspiring and engaging the worship community through a vibrant and dynamic music ministry. 3) All are welcome to register for an eight-week Bible study on Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance, exploring key themes in today’s Christian culture and society. Classes run on Wednesdays from August 27 to October 15—2:00 pm in person at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Parish Centre and at 6:30 pm online class via Zoom. Please contact the cathedral office at standrewscathedral@gmail.com to register. Workbooks for the class are $35 and a subsidy is available for anyone in need.
 
4) The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has released a pastoral letter titled Forgive Us Our Debts: Pastoral Letter on Debt Forgiveness in the Jubilee Year 2025. It highlights the global debt crisis affecting many developing countries and urges the Canadian government and private creditors to work with these nations to create and implement fair debt forgiveness plans in the spirit of the Jubilee Year.
