On Friday, January 10th, the Diocese of Victoria hosted its annual Epiphany Soiree at St. Andrew's High School. Rooted in the Epiphany’s theme of light and guidance, the event also celebrated Leah MacKenzie’s official retirement and her extraordinary contributions during her 16 years as Chief Financial Officer.
Leah’s leadership and financial expertise have been vital to the Diocese’s growth, ensuring its ministries, schools, and parishes could flourish. The evening featured heartfelt tributes from Bishop Gary Gordon, who praised Leah’s professionalism and compassion, and Cynthia Bouchard (former Chancellor of the Diocese of Victoria), who highlighted her wisdom and collaborative spirit. Bev Pulyk (former Superintendent of the Catholic Independent Schools of the Diocese of Victoria) shared how Leah’s commitment ensured Catholic education thrived, while Fr. William Hann (Vicar General of the Diocese of Victoria) and Sr. Marie Zarowny (President of the Corporation of The Sisters of Saint Ann) lauded her faith-driven leadership and grace in managing challenges.
The event showcased the profound impact of Leah’s steadfast service, which has left a lasting legacy for the diocese. With stories, laughter, and gratitude, the evening honoured Leah as a guiding light for the community, making it a memorable and heartfelt celebration.
