News from the Chancery is published each week to share information and upcoming events with the people of the Diocese of Victoria.

We have seven items to share with you today:

1) Bishop Gary Gordon has written a message to the people of the Diocese of Victoria on the passing of Pope Francis. The message may be read online at https://www.rcdvictoria.org/news/bishop-gary-gordons-letter-on-the-passing-of-pope-francis. You can find a printable version of his letter here.

2) The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has created a prayer card for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis. Please find a printable file here.

3) A memorial Mass for Pope Francis will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 7:00 pm at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Victoria. All are invited to attend in person or via livestream at https://www.youtube.com/live/W_gt0pL9LKI?si=-sUvdDsaXeihBMVq 

4) Pope Francis' funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 am PDT (10:00 am CEST) in St. Peter’s Square, Vatican City. You can watch the funeral via livestream here: https://www.youtube.com/@VaticanNews

6) On April 29th, all are welcome to join a free virtual lecture on Art, Medicine, and the Reimagining of Care as part of the Compassion and Social Justice Lecture Series.
