News from the Chancery is published each week to share information and upcoming events with the people of the Diocese of Victoria.

We have 6 items to share with you this week:

1) February 24 marks the second anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. National representatives of Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant communities, in collaboration with the World Evangelical Alliance’s Peace and Reconciliation Network, the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, and the Canadian Council of Churches, have signed a Pastoral Letter on Ukraine, Canada, and the Church, inviting all to join in praying for peace.  For more information, please visit https://www.rcdvictoria.org/news/a-canadian-pastoral-letter-on-ukraine-canada-and-the-church.

2) Would you like to help remove invasive plants and restore the properties of St. Andrew’s High School, the Pastoral Centre, and Sacred Heart Parish?  On Saturday, March 2, all are invited to the first weekly Garry Oak Meadow Restoration Project work party.  Please meet in the Sacred Heart parking lot (4044 Nelthope Street, Victoria); the event will run from 10 am – noon, rain or shine.  Pruners and shovels will be provided, but please bring your own gloves, safety glasses, and water.  For more information and to sign up, please email jseale1234@gmail.com

3) Holy Trinity Parish in Nanaimo (6234 Spartan Rd) invites all to join them for their Lenten Mission, led by Fr. Irek Bem, SDS.  Fr. 4) In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, Hope Lutheran, Brechin United, and Holy Trinity Catholic Parish are jointly offering a workshop on Reconciliation: Building Relationships.  The workshop will run on Friday, March 8 from 7 – 9:30 pm and Saturday, March 9 from 9:30 am – 5:30 pm at Brechin United Church in Nanaimo (2020 Estevan Road).  Guest speakers include Adrian Jacobs, senior leader for Indigenous Justice and Reconciliation with the Christian Reformed Church in North America, and Colette Jones, Snuneymuxw Elder and professor in the Studies in Women and Gender Department at VIU.  Admission is by donation, but space is limited; please register in advance at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/reconciliation-workshop-building-relationships-day-1-of-2-registration-838332403787 and https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/reconciliation-workshop-building-relationships-day-2-of-2-tickets-838366275097
