News from the Chancery is published each week to share information and upcoming events with the people of the Diocese of Victoria.

We have four items to share with you today:

1) The Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA Canada) is hosting a special webinar with Joseph Hazboun, Regional Director in Jerusalem, to discuss the latest updates on the Gaza ceasefire. This event will take place on Wednesday, February 12, at 9:00 am PDT (12:00 pm EDT)—join here, no registration required: https://bit.ly/3CnAktm  

2) Development & Peace is hosting two in-person Share Lent workshops: Saturday, February 15, in Victoria and Sunday, February 16, in Nanaimo. The Victoria workshop is at St. Patrick's Parish from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by lunch (RSVP to Nancy Stuart at nancystuart7@gmail.com). The Nanaimo workshop is at Holy Trinity Parish from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (any questions can be sent to robertson@aquinas.org).

3) Pope Francis has released a poignant message for World Day of the Sick on February 11 that reflects on suffering as an opportunity for a transformative encounter with God. He highlights the importance of presence, gift, and sharing as essential aspects of compassionate care.
