News from the Chancery is published each week to share information and upcoming events with the people of the Diocese of Victoria.

We have four items to share with you today:

1) Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of Fr. Frank Franz, who passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, following a brief illness. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 4, at 10:00 am at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Victoria, with Bishop Gary presiding; all are welcome to participate in person or via livestream at: https://www.youtube.com/live/NHSiD7VjYOg 

2) The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops presents Journey through Advent with the Most Rev. Wayne Lobsinger, Auxilliary Bishop of Hamilton. 3) Providence Living at The Views is seeking a part-time Spiritual Care Coordinator for 30 hours bi-weekly. The Spiritual Health Coordinator leads and develops spiritual care and mission effectiveness programs, and also works closely with managers and caregivers in the support and counselling of residents, their loved ones, and staff members. 4) The National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, an initiative of the Canadian Catholic Indigenous Council (CCIC), is observed each year on December 12, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
