1) Bishop Gary Gordon has written a message to the People of God in the Diocese of Victoria on the occasion of Pentecost 2024. The message may be viewed online at https://www.rcdvictoria.org/statements (under “Pastoral Letters”)
2) The celebration of Pentecost this Sunday marks one year since Bishop Gary announced the formation of the Diocesan Permanent Pastoral Synod (DPPS). Much preparation and planning has been happening in the past 12 months, and the work of the DPPS will be beginning soon. 3) The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Pontifical Academy for Life, and other key partners are organizing an international interfaith symposium on palliative care, which will take place in Toronto from May 21-23, 2024. Members of the Diocese of Victoria Health Care Committee were selected by the Assembly of Western Catholic Bishops to attend as representatives of our region. 4) A weekend retreat “Called to Freedom” will be held from May 31 – June 2 at Bethlehem Centre in Nanaimo. All are invited to explore spiritual freedom through the lens of the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
