On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Bishop Gary Gordon celebrated Mass at St. Andrew's Cathedral in honour of healthcare workers and volunteers. "Everywhere I go, I encounter amazing people filled with gratitude. As a Bishop, I have fallen in love with visiting the sick and bringing comfort to those in need. Accompaniment, tenderness, and mercy—this is the heart of Jesus," he said, and went on to thank those who work or volunteer in our Ministry of Healthcare.
"As healthcare workers and volunteers, and as the baptized of the Church, may we be the light and hope not just for those who are sick in hospitals and hospices, but also for our loved ones, our family, our friends, and our neighbours who are ill and deep in despair. Gracious and merciful is the presence of our God in our Diocese, present in each and everyone of us, as healers, and missionary disciples of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you for your love, thank you for your dedication, thank you for your care, and thank you for your compassion."
