Pastoral Appointment and Retirement

Mar 14, 2019 12:01:16 PM

Bishop Gary Gordon has, in consultation with the Priest Personnel Committee, made the following pastoral appointment and ministry change:

Effective March 1, 2019

  • Thomas Chinnappa has been appointed as the full-time Hospital Chaplain serving the Royal Jubilee Hospital and the Victoria General Hospital in the city of Victoria. Fr. Thomas will reside in the rectory at St. Patrick’s Parish and will provide assistance to the Pastor, Fr. William Hann, as required. In the event of an emergency, the Hospital Chaplain may be contacted via cell phone at 250-889-3761.
  • Deacon Robert Wilson, incardinated in the Diocese of Peterborough, retired to Victoria a few years ago and has been providing assistance at St. Patrick’s Parish in Victoria. Though Deacon Robert did not have a formal mandate from the Diocese, he continued to exercise his diaconal ministry in the Diocese and was always willing to be of service as and when he was called upon.  After a period of discernment, and in consultation with the Bishop, Deacon Robert has now retired from diaconal ministry and we wish him and his family well for the future.

Your continued support and prayers for the ongoing pastoral needs of the Diocese of Victoria are greatly appreciated.
