Pastoral Ministry Changes and Appointment

Jul 9, 2020 1:05:48 PM

During these challenging times, we are invited to welcome and embrace the opportunities to grow in faith as we continue to move towards a model of collaborative and shared ministry in the Diocese.

Bishop Gary has, in consultation with the Priest Personnel Committee, made the following appointment as a result of changes in pastoral ministry:

Effective Immediately:

Fr. Devane Sam, on loan from the Diocese of Bellary, who has been in India since February, will not return to serve in the Diocese of Victoria due to the global pandemic.

Effective July 15, 2020:

Fr. John Vines, retired from the Diocese of Whitehorse, who has provided pastoral ministry at St. Louis de Montfort in Lake Cowichan the last few years, will move to the United States to be closer to his family.

Fr. Mel Bayron, in addition to serving as Pastor of All Saints Parish (Ladysmith and Chemainus), will provide sacaramental ministry to St. Louis de Montfort Parish in Lake Cowichan.

We remain grateful for the dedicated and faithful priests who minister in our Diocese as they assume additional responsibilities in service to the People of God.

Your support and prayers for the ongoing pastoral needs of our Diocese are greatly appreciated
