On Saturday, 27 January, 2018, the President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops(CCCB), Bishop Lionel Gendron P.S.S.,published a statement on the CCCB website reinforcing the importance of protecting the unborn. This coincided with the 30th anniversary of the Morgentaler Decision which stated that existing abortion provisions in Canada’s Criminal Code violated a woman’s Charter Rights to the security of person. The Court’s decision was made public on 28 January 1988, following its hearings in October 1986.
