Season of Creation 2023: Let Justice and Peace Flow

Sep 5, 2023 2:16:28 PM

Season of Creation 2023 has begun.  Every year from September 1 to October 4, Christians around the world are invited to join in a celebration of prayer and action to protect our common home.

The Season of Creation website has lots of information and resources about the event, including the downloadable Celebration Guide.  The Guide was designed to help people learn more about the event and make plans for how to celebrate it; it includes ideas for prayer services, walks or pilgrimages, and advocacy action.

The theme for this year's Season is "Let Justice and Peace Flow", based on the words of the Prophet Amos: “But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5: 24).  Pope Francis shared a message reflecting on this theme for September 1st, the first day of the Season and the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

Together with the Holy Family, we pray: “In this Season of Creation, as followers of Christ on our shared synodal journey, let us live, work and pray that our common home will teem with life once again. May the Holy Spirit once more hover over the waters and guide our efforts to “renew the face of the earth”".
